Vegangirl needs to read a book or two on whole food nutrition. Micronutrients, fiber, enzymes...does not equal junk food.

I feel the same when confronted. I usually start to explain, but I'm way to old for that now! ;)
I have healthy beautiful vegan children, from vegans pregnancies. They were BF and we had only one health issue- vitamin D. I was using to much sunscreen (via my dr) and once we stopped soaking them w/it, there levels have been fine.
As for the comments from 'vegangirl', sorry you are so mislead. Allergies come from many sources. You should do some research on what causes them and maybe come back to comment then. Vegan diets are what you make them... My family I all in normal weight range, so I find it hard to believe a real vegan diet is 'bad' for you. Of course I have NO study to bade this on, just the fact that I'm vegan, alive & healthy

Actually, there's very little healthy about vegan diets. Fruit is basically sugar and only contains one vitamin in significant quantities - vitamin C. Grains are highly inflammatory and don't agree with most people (gluten intolerance, for example, from wheat). Many folks are allergic to nuts and soyabeans, so they're out. Legumes contain the same inflammatory and anti-nutrient properties as grain (i.e. stop the absorption of vital nutrients). Honey and maple syrup are just sugar. Vegetables taste bland and have little nutritional values, when compared to meat and eggs (which is why vegans dieters often remain fat). And the necessity of dietary fibre in the diet is a myth, based on faulty science.

I'm not against veganism. I simply think vegans should be honest and realistic about their diet - it's basically junk food, people. If you want to eat junk food for "moral" reasons, that's cool. But let's not pretend there's anything balanced about your WOE.
