I’m usually not one to link to op-ed type pieces, unless they’re really bad cases of anti-vegan propaganda that I can pick apart, but I really enjoyed Ari Solomon’s piece in The Huffington Post, Who You Callin’ Vegangelical?”:
So. When a vegan is talking to a meat-eater about these issues, he or she is not “preaching”, “trying to convert”, or any such thing. We’re not telling you what to eat. We’re telling you what you’re eating.
I need to read it a few more times, but I suggest you give it a try at least once. I know I sometimes hold back on giving out vegan information in social situations (which is markedly different from “saying what I really think,” incidentally) out of concern that I might be coming off as too preachy, but lines like the one I quoted above really put things in a different perspective. Give it a look over the weekend, mmmKay?
